Hazardous Waste Collection
The Next Kingwood Mobile BOPOA (battery, oil, paint, antifreeze) event will be held at the Kingwood Metro Park & Ride, 3210 W. Lake Houston Parkway on April 26, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you are trying to dispose of latex paint, used oil, used oil filters, anti-freeze, car battery or rechargeable batteries, you can bring those items to the Metro Park & Ride lot. Please limit your load to two 5-gallon, and ten 1-gallon paint cans, 5 gallons of used oil and 5 gallons of antifreeze. Must present driver?s license or water bill as proof of City of Houston residency.
Harris County does not have a nearby collection site scheduled this spring to collect items not normally picked up by our garbage service. However, the city does have a site at 5614 Neches, close to the US 59N and I-610 interchange, that is easy to use. It is open on the second Thursday of every month from 9AM to 3PM and will take household hazardous wastes such as antifreeze, batteries, used oil, paint, TVs, etc. They will not accept ammunition, explosives, radioactive wastes, etc. You may access the web details here.
